HOST FAMILY – Volunteer Application Steps

PART ONE

1. MAIN APPLICATIONS

All adults living in your home must complete an application.

A note: please prepare CA Driver’s License to upload to your application

PART TWO

1. BACKGROUND CHECKS

Every adult living in the home must complete a background check. You will receive an email invitation from Sterling Volunteers to complete a Background Check. There is a fee per applicant averaging $50. Please save and send your receipts for reimbursements to admin@saferefugecf.org.

2. LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING

Every adult living in the home must complete a LiveScan fingerprinting. You will receive an email with instructions for completing a Live Scan Fingerprinting. There is a fee per applicant averaging $35. Please save and send your receipts for reimbursement to admin@saferefugecf.org.

3. REFERENCES

There are five required references per household. Please provide three friend or colleague references, one pastor reference and one church leader or some one you serve with at church. We will contact three of the references. Please fill out the following link: Click HERE

4. CHILD ABUSE MANDATED REPORTER TRAINING

Each adult living in a Safe Refuge Host Family home must complete Mandated Reporter Training.

If you have completed this training through a different organization in the past 2 years, please click HERE.

If you have not completed this training or your certificate is more than 2 years old, please use this LINK to complete a FREE Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training. Scroll to the bottom of the page and complete the option that says “VOLUNTEERS”.

After completing the training, upload your certificate HERE.

PART THREE

1. SAFE REFUGE VOLUNTEER TRAINING

Host Families are required to complete Safe Refuge Volunteer Training. We will email you with instructions. 

2. HOME ASSESSMENT

When Part One of the application process is completed, we will contact you to schedule a Home Assessment and Interview.

3. FINAL INTERVIEW

The final step for becoming a Safe Refuge volunteer. This is a brief ZOOM interview, a time to ask questions and go over the next steps.
