Providing safe and healthy homes for children of families in crisis.

2026 Greater Sacramento Walkathon

Why Greater Sacramento?

Safe Refuge has been serving families throughout the Greater Sacramento region for years, and this walk is an opportunity to expand our community of support by helping more people learn about Safe Refuge, expanding our network of volunteers and church partners, and ensuring more families know where to turn when they need help. By growing our Greater Sacramento Team, we’re building a stronger local community of support.

What time does it start and how long will it be?
Check-in begins at 9:00 AM. The walk is approximately 1 to 1½ hours, followed by a complimentary pizza lunch. The event will wrap up around 12:00PM, leaving you the rest of your Saturday to enjoy.

Is there a fee to register?

There’s a suggested registration donation of $10 for individuals and $20 for families to help cover event costs. It’s not required, but it’s appreciated. The real ask is your participation,  that’s where the support and impact happens!

What should I bring?

We’ll provide your event T-shirt. Wear comfortable shoes and bring your energy! We’ll have water, breakfast bars, and pizza.

Where does the money go?

Every dollar raised supports Safe Refuge for Children and Families, helping provide temporary care for children while parents navigate a family crisis. Parents also receive Family Coaching. Your participation helps ensure more families have somewhere to turn when they need help.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes. Safe Refuge for Children and Families is a registered 501 (c)(3), EIN 46-3537904. Receipts are provided for all contributions.

How do I raise funds?

When you register, you’ll get a quick follow-up email with a link to set up your personal fundraising page through Fundraise Up (it only takes a minute) From there, share your link with friends and family and let them know why you’re walking. Every share helps us reach more people and invites others to make a difference. The more people hear about the event, the greater impact we can make together for Safe Refuge families!

Every participant helps raise awareness of Safe Refuge, strengthens our network of volunteers and church partners, and helps ensure more children have a safe place when their families need it most.

Together, we’re growing hope, expanding support, and helping more children experience safety when it matters most.
