General Information
What is the Safe Refuge Walkathon?
The Safe Refuge Walkathon is a community fundraising event to support Safe Refuge for Children and Families. Participants walk together to raise awareness and funds to provide safe and loving homes for children of families in crisis.
When and where is the event?
📅 Date: Saturday, September 27th, 2025
⏰ Time: 9AM–12PM Check-in begins at 8:30AM
📍 Location: Fair Oaks Church 1925 Risdon Rd. Concord CA 94518
Who can participate?
Anyone! We welcome individuals of all ages: families, church groups, businesses are all welcome to join us. Whether you walk solo, form a team, involve your friends and family to walk with you, or sponsor a walker, your support makes a difference.

Registration & Fundraising
How much does it cost to participate?
There is no required fee to join the Walkathon for Safe Refuge. However, we invite participants to make an optional registration donation to help cover event costs. More importantly, we encourage walkers to raise funds in support of children and families in crisis.

How do I raise funds?
Once you register, you’ll receive a personal fundraising link that you can share with your network! Donations can be collected online or in person.
Can businesses or sponsors support the event?

Event Day Details
What should I bring?
Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle if you would like. We will have plenty of water bottles available as well. We also recommend sunscreen and a hat if it’s sunny.
T-Shirts will be provided for each participant.
What happens if it rains?
The event will take place rain or shine! In case of severe weather, we will notify all participants of any changes.
Will food and drinks be provided?
Yes, grab and go breakfast snacks will be available for you. Water stations will be available throughout the event. A coffee truck will be there for your convenience for beverage purchases. We will end the event with a pizza party!
Can I bring my kids?
Absolutely and we would LOVE that! This is a family-friendly event, and we encourage parents to participate with their children. Safe Refuge is a FAMILY ministry- we LOVE families serving together!
Can I bring my pet?
So sorry no pets at this event, with the exception of service animals.
Donations & Impact
Where does the money go?
All funds raise support Safe Refuge for Children and Families serving the most vulnerable in our community. This helps provide temporary care for children while their parents navigate crises. Your support ensures that no family faces challenges alone.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes! Safe Refuge for Children and Families is a registered nonprofit EIN: 46-3537904. All donations are tax-deductible. Receipts will be provided for all contributions.
Can I donate without participating in the walk?
Yes! If you’d like to support but can’t attend, you can donate at HERE. Every dollar makes a difference!
If you are not able to attend the full time, feel free to still stop by the event.
